This new book, entitled European Muslims and the Qur’an: Practices of Translation, Interpretation, and Commodification’ is a result of the research of the UvA team within the ERC Synergy project “The European Qur’an” (https://euqu.eu/]). The book contains ten contributions covering different regions and periods and shows how Muslims in Europe (including the Iberian Peninsula, but also areas in the European part of Russia, and Eastern and Southern European countries such as Poland and Bosnia) between the 15th and early 20th century translated and interpreted the Koran into Arabic, Turkish and the various other written languages of the European continent. It sheds light on the relationships between the groups, forms of cooperation, but also on the barriers, and on the agency of individual European Muslims.
