NISIS networking event: Remembering the old, building the new | 23 April ’26

On Thursday April 23, NISIS organizes its third film screening in collaboration with a group of French documentary makers. This time, the evening starts with networking drinks, where NISIS Junior members can meet Senior members. NISIS is an unparalleled research school in the Dutch academic landscape, that unites nine different universities and offers high quality interdisciplinary workshops, seminars, conferences and seasonal schools. The Utrecht University is hosting NISIS until the end of 2026. We want to celebrate our portfolio filled with inspiring events by inviting our community and the broader public to an evening where students in the field of Islamic studies can meet senior scholars and watch the documentary ‘Harar, the forgotten Islamic city’. This documentary offers insight into the inhabitants of Harar, as their days seem numbered. The trailer of the documentary can be watched here.
