Workshop day & film screening ‘Muslim Minorities’
On Friday October 7th, together with Unexpected Muslims and Pakhuis de Zwijger, NISIS organizes a workshop day followed by the screening of the film ‘Somos Musulmanes’ (subtitled in English) in the evening.
The workshop day will start at 13.30 hrs with a seminar led by Prof. dr. Gerard Wiegers, Dr. Monica Colominas Aparicio and Dr. Gulnaz Sibgatullina about ‘historical and legal aspects of Muslim Minorities’. This seminar is primarily meant for NISIS members. In the afternoon filmmaker Dhia Ben Naser (member of Unexpected Muslims) will discuss his documentary about the Hui people in China with expert on the topic, Francesca Rosati. Both activities take place at the UB (UvA), in the Belle van Zuylenzaal at Singel 425 in Amsterdam.
Between 17.30 and 18.45 hrs. you are invited to have dinner (costs are 21 euros per person for a vegetarian dinner incl. wine & water) at Pakhuis de Zwijger, the same venue where the film screening plus Q&A with Dhia Ben Naser will take place between 19.00 and 21.00 hrs.

The entire program is as follows:
- 13.30 – 15.30: seminar led by Prof. dr. Gerard Wiegers, Dr. Monica Colominas Aparicio and Dr. Gulnaz Sibgatullina about ‘historical and legal aspects of Muslim Minorities’.
- 15.30 – 16.00: coffee break
- 16.00 – 17.00: Dhia Ben Naser (member of Unexpected Muslims) will discuss his documentary about the Hui people in China with expert on the topic, Francesca Rosati
- 17.30 – 18.45: dinner at Pakhuis de Zwijger
- 19.00 – 21.00: screening of documentary ‘Somos Musulmanes’ followed by Q&A with filmmaker Dhia Ben Naser
